3 Thoughts from Me

  • “Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear, Things I would ask him to tell me if he were here. Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, Stories of Jesus, tell them to me.” While we typically apply this Primary song to the New Testament, it can also apply to the Old Testament, a book filled with stories of Jehovah’s role on the earth in preparation for His first arrival.

  • Ponderize. In 2015, Devin G. Durrant gave a general conference talk, “My Heart Pondereth Them Continually.” He introduced the concept of “ponderizing” on a scripture each week, posting it somewhere frequently seen. Reflecting on the words and phrases throughout the week deepens our understanding of gospel principles and gives an uplifting place for our thoughts to go. Ponderizing is a simple way to “always remember Him” and keep the Spirit nearby.

  • Walk with Jesus. This phrase describes our faith journey, going where He goes, following His lead, while having continual communication and companionship. Seeking the stories of Jehovah (the name of Jesus in the Old Testament), and ponderizing a selected verse each week are two ways I’m going to try to walk with Him this year as I study the Old Testament.

2 Quotes from Others

  • “Brothers and sisters, in this Church, we believe in the divine potential of all of God’s children and in our ability to become something more in Christ. In the Lord’s timing, it is not where we start but where we are headed that matters most.” –Clark Gilbert

  • “The journey of discipleship is not an easy one. It has been called a “course of steady improvement.” As we travel along that strait and narrow path, the Spirit continually challenges us to be better and to climb higher. The Holy Ghost makes an ideal traveling companion. If we are humble and teachable, He will take us by the hand and lead us home.”  –Larry Lawrence
