Three Thoughts from Terri

  • Admit it. Change is hard. That’s why we drive the same way to work, the store, and to church. We make cow trails, repeating the same routine and counting on our favorites to stay unchanged. At church, there is an uproar when people move from their assigned seats (you know there are assigned seats, right?), and tears are shed over boundary changes.

  • It’s natural, then, that with upcoming schedule changes in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there is a hum of anxiety, worry, and even skepticism. The reality of a true and “living” church is being manifested with real-time revelation that will disrupt the comfortable routine we’ve created since 2019 with the last schedule change.

  • Dolly Parton shared these wise words, “We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.” Adapting to change can include focusing on what is not changing: partaking of the sacrament, praising Him through song, praying as a community, and sharing with others who are trying to be like Jesus. It’s valuable to look for the good that can come with the change. Best of all is jumping in wherever we can to make it so.
