Three+ Thoughts from Me

  • If I read the Doctrine & Covenants as a standalone book, not knowing anything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today, I would predict this fledgling church would not survive many years, especially after the death of Joseph Smith. Despite promises from the Lord, there were simply too many worldly forces against the organization and its people, resulting in promising converts, such as Jared Carter (see Section 79) leaving the church.

  • But this church did survive. On July 9, 2025, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced from June 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, convert baptisms were the highest of any 12-month period in the Church’s 195-year history. “Every region of the world in the first quarter of 2025 saw at least a 20% increase in convert baptisms compared to the same period the previous year. The church has more members (17.5 million), missionaries (80,000), congregations (31,670), missions (450) and temples (382) than it has ever had” (Church News, July 9, 2025).

  • What a bright light this news brings! In this world of darkness, miracles are happening! We know the final outcome between good and evil. “There is absolutely no question as to who wins because the victory has already been posted on the scoreboard” (Elder Holland). Our daily challenge is to let faith replace fears, to replace darkness and doubt with light and peace–to stay on the Lord’s team.

  • +What I learned about Jesus: His work will not be stopped. Keep looking for evidence of this truth.

Two Thoughts from Others

  • “Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory” (Russell M. Nelson, 2018)

  • “Do you see what is happening right before our eyes? I pray that we will not miss the majesty of this moment! The Lord is indeed hastening His work” (President Russell M. Nelson, 2025).

One Question for You

  • How do you use your faith to overcome your fears?
