Walk with Him: Our Ready-Made Meals

Exodus 14-18, Come Follow Me: Old Testament 2026
(April 13-19)

Three Thoughts from Me

  • Do you realize ready-made meals started with Moses? Rise up in the morning, go out when the dew is still on the ground and gather up breakfast. No fuss, no leftovers-just enough for everyone to be filled and go about their day. Relatively simple, and yet, it was a test for the Israelites. “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no” (Exodus 16:4).

  • Ready-made meals are accessible each morning for our spiritual nourishment. With these meals, you don’t even have to get out of bed! The scriptures, general conference talks throughout time, and countless other study resources are at our fingertips, easy to use, always ready. We choose our daily rations. Some days can be a snack, other days a meal or even a feast. Once fed, we are filled and ready to go about our day, guided by the Holy Ghost.

  • Are we partaking of this miraculous manna–daily? Have we established the “holy habit” (Elaine Dalton) of scriptures and prayer in our day along with brushing our teeth and checking the weather? This simple practice proves to the Lord we desire to walk with Him, not just on Sunday, but every day, always.

Two Thoughts from Others

  • “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.” (James Clear)

  • “I plead with you today to counter the lure of the world by making time for the Lord in your life—each and every day.

If most of the information you get comes from social or other media, your ability to hear the whisperings of the Spirit will be diminished. If you are not also seeking the Lord through daily prayer and gospel study, you leave yourself vulnerable to philosophies that may be intriguing but are not true. Even Saints who are otherwise faithful can be derailed by the steady beat of Babylon’s band.

My brothers and sisters, I plead with you to make time for the Lord! Make your own spiritual foundation firm and able to stand the test of time by doing those things that allow the Holy Ghost to be with you always.” (President Russell M. Nelson)

One Experiment for You

  • Start your day with one scripture before you read anything else for one week. See what God can do when you put Him first.
